Installing Air Bags in Rear Suspension
If you’re looking for a way to strengthen your rear suspension for towing or hauling, installing airbags, otherwise known as “helper bags”, may be the option for you. For vehicles with coil suspension setups, airbags are inserted within the coils and provide more strength via compressed air.
For vehicles with leaf spring suspension, airbags can be mounted on top of where the blades meet the axle housing and can be filled with compressed air for heightened strength.
Both of these options allow for variable stiffness in your rear suspension, meaning you can increase pressure in the bags when towing heavy, and decrease it when not.

For example, if one of your bearings starts to overheat and you continue to drive on it, it can get hot enough to catch fire.
